Enjoy a break at the heart of South Tyrol
Surrounded by an attractive natural and cultural landscape you can choose from countless hiking, sporting and cultural activities.
There are walks along well-marked trails, from the valley bottom via hilly terraces to the highest mountain peaks.
You can also enjoy bike rides on the Brixen panoramic trail or on the Seiser Alp, with a breathtaking natural backdrop and much more for company.
Play tennis and go 10-pin bowling in St. Andrä (only five minutes’ drive away).
Swim in the idyllic natural bathing pond in Lüsen or in the Acquarena in Brixen. You can have fun in the water all year round there, no matter what the weather. Or why not try paragliding or a tandem flight from our local mountain, the Plose?
In winter you can walk on foot, with snowshoes, or go back-country skiing through wonderful, snow-covered scenery. Skiing in the family-friendly Plose ski resort (distance to the valley station 1.5 km) is great fun, with 43 km of perfectly groomed slopes and the longest downhill run in South Tyrol. www.plose.org There’s also cross-country skiing on the Plose, beneath the Villnöss Geisler peaks or on the Rodenecker/Lüsner Alp. You could try tobogganing on the natural tracks and by moonlight.
Culture fans will find a fantastically varied range of activities in the diocesan town of Brixen: the splendid Baroque cathedral, the cloister, and Brixen Hofburg, which was once the residence of the Tyrolean bishops. The Augustinian monastery at Neustift is also worth a visit; it is the largest abbey in South Tyrol. There’s also Rodenegg Castle with its Ivain frescoes, Wolfsthurn Castle in Mareit with its Hunting and Fishing Museum, and much, much more. Or why not visit the Ridnaun-Schneeberg Mining World, Europe’s highest mine, or take a trip to see Ötzi the Ice Man in Bolzano? You can find details of museums here.
You will find more suggestions and ideas for varied holiday activities in our farm information folder.
